TRAINING
Steeped in various feminist traditions and honoring transnational liberatory models, our Institute For Gender and Cultural Competence brings culturally-specific, structurally competent, in-depth intersectional analysis and expertise to you, the way you want it. Whether new to the field or a long-time advocate, you can engage in learning exchanges, seminars, workshops, webinars, podcasts and teach-ins that center survivors, survivor informed and current practices, debates and innovations to prevent sexual violence.
PREVENTION
Recognizing that few resources exist that are culturally relevant and focus on preventing rape and sexual assault before it occurs, we developed innovative programs focused on identifying and preventing sexual violence before it occurs. The Training Institute delivers prevention education curricula based on an understanding of the complex interplay between the individual, relational, social, cultural, environmental, historical and persistent structural factors that influence the spectrum of discrimination, oppression and violence that impact people’s lives.
INTERVENTION
We specialize in liberatory bystander intervention models, transformative and healing models as well as asset-based community accountability models. Using proven effective pedagogy and methodologies, the Institute works to equip people, groups and /or organizations with a framework for developing strategies anchored in civil and human rights as key points for intervention.

Gender and cultural competence. Through specific and in-depth curricula, participants will have a greater understanding of the individual, relational, social, cultural, environmental, historical, and persistent environmental factors that influence the spectrum of discrimination, oppression, and violence that impacts people's lives.

Team building. Training together can build understanding and consensus among teams. Participants who learn together can support one another in problem-solving and decision-making.

Targeted outcomes. Training can be customized to meet the needs of your organization, institution or population. You get to work with the IGCC faculty in shaping the content of the workshop(s) to ensure that the outcomes match your goals.
TRAININGS, COURSES, WORKSHOPS AND WEBINARS!
All workshops are facilitated by experts in their fields. We use adult learning techniques and learning approaches specific to the age group of student audiences. The IGCC uses participatory pedagogy such as interactive exercises, role-play, and case studies, to maximize the likelihood of significant skill transfer and to increase the benefit to the participants and your school or organization. The sessions also tap into the experience and wisdom that is brought to the workshops by the participants, enabling significant peer learning within the workshop process.
